Waverley Park Physiotherapy Centre (WPPC) has a long and proud partnership history with the Waverley Park Hawks Junior Football Club.
As a part of our ongoing support for the club, WPPC hold an annual Injury Management and Training Education evening for the trainers, coaches and parents at the club.
Trainers play a vital role in the prevention, response and management of a wide range of injuries in both junior and senior football. Our trainer education evening aim is to provide valuable information and strategies to ensure that the boys and girls at the Hawks are best cared for and managed should injury occur during the season.
With the 2017 season now well underway, the Injury Management Evening, conducted by the WPPC Physiotherapy team of Andrew Dalwood, Jordan Rutherford & Amy Shipperd, was held recently at the Mulgrave clinic. The evening included information on:
- Game Day and Training warmup and cooldown routines
- Management and Diagnosis of Concussion
- Identification and treatment of common acute injuries sustained in football
- Taping Techniques for upper and lower limb injuries
While it is important that trainers, coaches and parents have the basic skills required to make decisions regarding injuries sustained on the football field, it is equally as important to involve a trained health practitioner in the ongoing management of specific injuries – and that is where the team at WPPC provide our ongoing support to all the Hawks players.
