Physioworks Health Group were recently involved in the Casey Basketball Induction Day, supporting the development of young basketballers through education on movement, injury prevention and game preparation.
At Physioworks we recognise the importance of helping young athletes develop good habits early, giving them the knowledge to look after their bodies and get the most out of their sport.
This year, the Physioworks team, including Director David Francis, Physiotherapist Charlotte Galjar and Massage Therapist Karyn Wheeler. worked with the boys and girls from the Casey Basketball Association (CBA) Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16.
The day began with an education session for coaches, highlighting the importance of incorporating structured warm-up and cool-down routines into every training session and game. The Physioworks team emphasised that these exercises should be treated as an essential part of player preparation and recovery, rather than simply something to tick off before and after training.
Following this, the coaches took their teams through the routines while the Physioworks team moved between groups, providing guidance and helping players practise the exercises.
A big focus throughout the interactive sessions was getting the players involved, explaining the purpose behind each movement and how preparing the body for basketball-specific demands, such as running, jumping, landing and changing direction, can help improve performance and reduce injury risk.
Casey Basketball General Manager Tammy Bower commented, “Physioworks guidance and support play an important role in preparing our athletes to develop and perform at their best. Thank-you Dave and the Physioworks team for your ongoing support of Casey Basketball community.”
At Physioworks, we support basketballers of all ages and abilities to improve performance, prevent injuries and manage existing injuries so they can continue doing what they love.
We’re passionate about basketball and proud to continue educate and support the next generation of Casey Cavaliers.
