Participation in local community sport drives health and well- being across our communities.
Physioworks Health Group regularly assist in educating our communities on specific aspects of health, fitness and general well-being.
Recently our team were involved in the Casey Basketball Junior Cavaliers Induction Day with 420+ young basketballers (and parents) across U12-18 boys & girls age groups.
As part of the induction day, Physiotherapist Alex Natsioulas, Massage Therapist Karyn Wheeler & Exercise Physiologist Dylan D’Souza all assisted the CBA coaches in demonstrating & highlighting the importance of pre-game warm up & post game recovery for injury prevention & optimum performance.
“If we can instil the importance of warm up & recovery exercises at an early age, and teach the kids how to do both the individual and team/group exercises correctly, and these become common place, then the kids will lead by example across their other sports and life activities, sharing with other kids…and adults…so there is potential flow-on health benefits for all” said Karyn.
Each of the Junior Cavaliers left their Basketball Induction session with a Pre-game Warm up & Post-game Recovery Exercise sheet, and they also now have online access to a series of practical demonstration videos by Physioworks Physiotherapist Paul Kemel to help ensure correct exercise technique and benefit.
