Physioworks Health Group Director David Francis (FACP) recently lent his sports medicine experience in speaking at the inaugural Sports and Exercise Medicine Students’ Association (SEMSA) Conference 2017.
SEMSA is a multidisciplinary health student and recent graduate organisation aiming to facilitate further education & career development in the field of sports & exercise medicine.
Sharing his clinical and sport medicine experiences, including 20+ years as the Senior Physiotherapist to the Collingwood FC (AFL), David spoke and demonstrated specific examination techniques/questions to the SEMSA conference attendees.
Being highest qualified in his field as a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist*, David Francis is passionate about the education of future health care professionals and views it as a key role responsibility.
“Current university teaching and extra-curricular opportunities in our industry often do not extend to addressing the specific needs of students interested in sports and exercise medicine. SEMSA aims to target this deficit so I’m delighted to be involved in the conference and share experiences, question and challenge future sports and exercise medicine health professionals”, said David.
“Congratulations to all involved in driving the SEMSA Conference, and the commitment and initiative in establishing a group to help provide opportunities for personal development within sports and exercise medicine health care field” added David.
