David Francis and Lucas Kelly of Physioworks Health Group held an open, online forum this week – a Sports Trainer Q&A discussion session – to assist local sport clubs with injury management as we emerge from lockdown restrictions.
The aim of the forum was help Sports Trainers at local community clubs to be best prepared for player injury management challenges when we return to the sporting field post the current mid-season interruption; and to share approaches & discussion with fellow Sports Trainers in a relaxed Q&A session.
David Francis and the health care team at Physioworks Health Group have over 25 years experience working with local and elite sporting clubs, including the Collingwood FC (AFL, AFLW, & VFL)
Trainers from a range of local clubs across the Ellinbank & District Football League, AFL South East Juniors, AFL SE Womens’ Football, AFL OuterEast, AFL South East and West Gippsland Football Netball Competition all participated and contributed to the forum.
David Francis said “At Physioworks we believe Sports Trainers are key stakeholders in local community sport who help us all to express ourselves in the sporting arena and help bring our communities together. How can we best assist our volunteer trainers during this challenging period of interruption to community sport? Discussion, being prepared for injury on return to sport – because they will occur – is a great place to start”
