Another pre-season tip from Physioworks Health Group Director David Francis who has extensive experience with high-performance athletes, including 25+ seasons as physiotherapist at the Collingwood Football Club (AFL).
David says whilst long runs can help improve your base level fitness, without speed work, (applicable and specific to your chosen sport) your anaerobic fitness level will prevent you from performing at your best during competition; and can also lead to muscle injury.
