It has been a very busy summer of multiple sports and research for Physioworks Health Group’s Matthew Lynagh.
Since November, Sports Physiotherapist Matthew Lynagh has been assisting the pre-season preparation for the Collingwood AFLW team, who played last Friday night in their first of eight games in the AFLW season.
In late January Matthew was in Canberra, providing his sports physio expertise to the U15’s Victorian Woman Metro and Country teams as they played in the National Championships at Manuka Oval.
And last Sunday Matthew was in Adelaide on an overnight trip to screen the U18 SANFL Junior players using the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) to assess for injury risk and then track their injury rates over the coming season.
Matthew Lynagh said “The Sports Physio team are using FMS to try and establish whether the data correlates to having a poor score with a higher rate of injury. This is our 3rd season doing research with the SANFL Juniors and we have published two articles with the data that we have already collected”.
